Bats Catch Mating Flies in the Act

Or … coital cacophony clues critters to copulating cuisine.

Common house flies can become common house fly meals if they aren’t careful with their copulation. The Natterer’s bat has such sensitive hearing that it can detect minuscule clicks from the flies pre-coitus and use them like a deadly homing beacon.

If you’re constantly in danger of being eaten, taking your time with the deed can be a very dangerous affair. Even worse, this particular bat is particularly good at swiping up both of the mating flies in one fell swoop.

You want video? Oh … there’s video.
